What does it cost to really make a difference?
For one thousand favela children throughout São Paulo the answer is R$20.00 per month.

With your R$ 20.00 and the free 'technical- educational' support that our charitable Association -ABIAH is able to offer to all the churches and groups in the project, a 5 or 6 year old child from a seriously deprived home situation will be able to receive an excellent pre-school social and educational preparation given by genuinely caring and qualified people in a location close to their home.

Without help from somewhere these favela kids are going to be entering state school at 7 years old with none of the social-behavioural or educational skills that they need to be able to compete with the other children from the 'proper' houses around the favela. In overcrowded classrooms where the teacher is usually unable to give the special extra help that these children need, you can guess what's likely to happen. They'll do badly, learn to hate school, drop out and one way or another join the masses of under educated and virtually unemployable young people on the streets and involved in petty crime and worse.

With your help the cycle can be broken for one child at least!

They will let you have a photo of the child you will be supporting and will aim to keep you informed on his or her progress. This way you'll have personal link and be able to visit the little pre-school and perhaps even help in other ways if you wish.

You can either pass on your financial support directly to the church group running the school or if you prefer pass it on to our charity ABIAH and we will make sure that the school receives it. It might be more convenient to make a one off gift for the whole term- R$120.00. That's fine. The important thing is that the children get sponsored.
